Cox Service Upgrade Alert

Happy 4th everyone -

We promised when we organized this tax district to send only important messages to you all. This meets that promise -

Yesterday we learned that Cox is not only upgrading their facilities in 46th Street but are now going into our alleys to upgrade our services as well. Utility location services do not mark irrigation lines. Our regular maintenance people just finished up working in Mesa on an emergency basis when Cox upgraded several neighborhoods there - we’ve been told that in one neighborhood there were 36 breaks that needed repair. Most irrigation neighborhoods are much smaller than ours, 50-80 homes while our neighborhood is 225!

The work just started and right now only one alley is affected but we don’t know the status of the piping yet - self irrigation just completed with the managed run starting soon tomorrow morning at 5:30am or so. They start north and work down so we will know tomorrow morning if we have a problem.

In the meantime, we are asking for each of you to reach out to our Councilman, Kevin Robinson, to work with city staff and ensure that Cox works with RVIWDD in upgrading our internet services without a loss of SRP / RVIWDD to deliver irrigation water to our homes during the hottest part of our summer.

Send your messages urging Kevin Robinson to work with staff and Cox to ensure the installation of upgraded network service in our neighborhood does not also interrupt our irrigation water services.

His email is council.district.6@phoenix.gov

We will keep you informed as we learn more and post it here.
